Boss of Gearbox Software, Randy Pitchford, has confirmed that it has not yet started development of Borderlands 3. Because the current studio resources being focused on downloadable content (DLC) for Borderlands 2 and other projects.

Pitchford emphasized that for the time being, though his staff to think about new projects, but no new games being worked on.

"There is no single person who works for a sequel to Borderlands 2. Though it was fun, and think about, but for now we're focusing on DLC Borderlands 2, Aliens, and more. Works is currently developing a game related to only Borderlands Borderlands 2 , "said Pitchford.

Pitchford statement further confirmed that Gearbox is currently busy to develop DLC for Borderlands 2, and other games such as Aliens: Colonial Marines.
