Global warming seems to make a lot of parties to be more cautious in their policy which impact on the environment, including the selection of a cell phone.

So what phones are eco-friendly and environmentally unfriendly?

As reported by The Telegraph, O2 have sorted them. Apparently, most eco-friendly phones are mobile phones made by Sony Ericsson and Nokia.

Sony Ericsson Elm Mobile ranks first in the list of the most environmentally friendly mobile phone, with a score of eco rating 4.3 out of a maximum score of 5.

Earlier scores were all based on data provided by each mobile phone maker, ranging from materials they use, the estimated age of the device, energy efficiency, and ease of cell phone for recycling.

Each handset will get more points, while additional features such as a camera or music player, so users no longer need to purchase a separate electronic devices.

In addition, points are also awarded based on the ethical performance of the manufacturer of the phone, the principles of environmental and labor standards in their supply network.

"Consumers are increasingly aware of the social and environmental effects of the technology they purchase, and we believe the transparency of products such as this will help them to make choice a more 'green'," said Ronan Dunne, O2's Chief Executive told the Telegraph.

Until now no less than four billion mobile phones in use worldwide. Estimated that the phones had produced more than 100 tonnes of carbon footprint (carbon footprint) every year.
