Using a touch screen mobile phone is certainly going to be its own hassles for the blind. To that end, Qualcomm with Project RAY was trying to launch an Android phone which is specifically aimed at people with blindness.

Android mobile phone, according to Qualcomm, will be equipped with all the facilities that exist in an
Android smartphone. The device will be easy to use, multi-functional and will be synchronized with the Central Library for the Blind of Israel.

This smartphone is also able to make calls, SMS with read-out vocals, object recognition, navigation, remote assistance, social services network, audio books and other entertainment features. "Users simply touch anywhere on the screen position and the position to be starting points for choosing the audio-book, messaging or other features," said CEO Project RAY, Boaz Ziberman.

According to Boz, the mobile phone will also be equipped with a built-in capabilities such as vibration and sound feedback. And, most importantly, the phone will use the UI that can adapt to user habits.

Of course, this phone will also be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. For the operating system, the two companies are still not going to reveal what version they use on the mobile phone.
