Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), the world's largest manufacturer of computer processors will reportedly cut the number of its employees. Approximately 2340 employees or 20 percent of its workforce will be laid off.

from an informant, who also know that at least 10 percent of the staff, or approximately 11,700 AMD will have impact on the job cuts.
As quoted Gulfnews, Sunday (10/14/2012), with layoffs, AMD is trying to cut costs as a precaution related to lessening demand for personal computers that rely on the processor makes.
Companies based in California was recently announced that sales in the third quarter is forecast to decline about 10 percent from the previous period. The decline was larger than previously estimated.
"With a very weak PC demand, we do not think that the company has a lot of options, but to do some cost-cutting measures were big enough," said Betsy Van Hees, an analyst at Wedbush Securities Inc. in San Francisco.
Furthermore Betsy said job cuts about 10 to 20 percent is in accordance with what he heard from one of his informants. Meanwhile, tech site CNET reported that AMD plans to lay off approximately 30 percent of its workforce.
Another source from the blog All Things Digital said, if the decision to cut the number of employees of AMD is done, it can also affect workers in engineering and sales.
