IBM is a smartphone called Simon who is the first smart phone in the world to be equipped with a touch screen. In terms of design, this phone does have a form that is much different from the iPhone, especially in
terms of size. Both phones are 180 degrees different.
IBM Simon was first introduced at COMDEX event held in 1992. IBM Simon has the capabilities of a mobile phone, PDA, pager and fax machines. Inside the phone there are also some simple applications, such as calculator, calendar, address book, and world clock. This mobile phone also has no physical buttons for navigation. Instead, this phone relies full touchscreen display that can be operated by hand or stylus.
Furthermore, the phone went on sale by one U.S. phone carrier, BellSouth Cellular in May 1994. Unfortunately, the initial launch, this phone had experienced problems in terms of software and ultimately could only be obtained in the market on August 16, 1994.
