As of October 1, 2012, Google will officially eliminate support for Google Docs for file formats of Office 1997 to 2003. With this policy, Google Docs users will not be able to upload or download documents and other files with formats such as. Doc,. Ppt or. Xls.

This policy also includes three Google applications, namely Goole Apps for Business, Google Apps for Government and Google Apps for Education. Previously, Microsoft has long introduced a new format with
the addition of x at the end of the extension. However, Google provides three application specifically for a particular institution.

With this policy, Google will only support the latest file format from Microsoft, such as. Pptx,. Docx or. Xlsx. In addition, Google Docs users can still use the files to other formats such as ODT, RTF, ODS, CSV, SVG and other file formats.

Interestingly, I was wrong in writing such pengumannya. Rather than write a 1997-2003 file format, they even consider that. Doc,. Xls and. Ppt as part of office 2003-2007.
