It looked at the financial statements of Nokia for the 3rd quarter of 2012. From July to September 2012
, Nokia sold 2.9 million Lumia smartphones that use Windows Phone. Down from 4 million units in the previous quarter.
Well, Symbian smartphone sales in the period reached 3.4 million units. It is down from 6.2 million units from the previous quarter, but still pretty and still outperformed Windows Phone.
Especially considering Symbian is slowly removed by Nokia. But apparently, this platform is still preferred by most fans.
In total, Nokia sold 77 million units of mobile phones. Quoted WTC from eWeek, Friday (10/19/2012), selling many donated by Asha phone lines in class low end.
Unfortunately, Nokia posted heavy losses worth USD 1.27 billion in the quarter. But Stephen Elop as CEO of Nokia was still optimistic. Moreover, they have new ammunition, Lumia 920 and 820.
"Next year will be interesting. Several operators around the world are frustrated with the current strength of the two ecosystems (Apple and Android). Lumia from Nokia's product portfolio will provide a third alternative which is incredible," Elop claims.
